Itinerary:

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN THESSALONIKI
Morning visit of downtown Thessaloniki. We’ll see the seaside medieval fortification called the White Tower, the Arch of Roman emperor Galerius, the medieval churches on Via Egnatia, all protected by UNESCO and the archaeological museum. Rest of the day free at leisure to enjoy the cosmopolitan feel of this bustling metropolis, shopping, or watching the gorgeous sunset in a café on the seaside. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 2: THESSALONIKI - AMPHIPOLIS - PHILIPPI - ANGITIS - XANTHI
3. Morning drive to Amphipolis and Philippi, two of the most important archaeological sites in Northern Greece. Continue to the cave and underground river of Angitis. Next is Xanthi, with a preserved historical center and lively young crowds. Food here is divine! You’ll enjoy it, in one of the many traditional restaurants of the old quarter. Overnight in 4* hotel.
DAY 3: XANTHI - PERITHEORIO - KOMOTINI - MARONIA - ALEXANDROUPOLIS
Today we’ll drive through the green pastures of Thrace to Alexandroupolis. We’ll visit the little known ruins of Peritheorion, lost in one of the last stretches of primitive jungle in Europe. Visit of the medieval bridge in Komsatos valley. Stop at Komotini to visit the interesting museum, and in Maronia to see the fabulous mosaics, found amidst centuries old olive groves. Arrival in Alexandroupolis. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 4: ALEXANDROUPOLIS - SAMOTHRACE
In the morning we’ll embark on the ferry and after two hours we’ll step on one of the most mysterious places on Earth: the island of Samothrace. Rest of the day free at leisure to bathe in the primitive hot springs in Therma, and have a delicious traditional dinner under the stars. Overnight in 3* hotel.
DAY 5: SAMOTHRACE
Full day tour of this unique island. Samothrace is home of an ancient cult called mystiria ( mysteries). We’ll visit the ruins of the ancient temple and town, we’ll walk through the deep forest to the waterfalls, where we’ll have the chance to have a refreshing dip and we’ll enjoy the sunset from the ruined castle on top of the well preserved medieval main town of the island. Overnight in 3* hotel.
DAY 6: SAMOTHRACE - ALEXANDROUPOLIS - EDIRNE
Ferry embarkation and transfer to Alexandroupolis. Drive north to Edirne – old Adrianopolis – today in Turkish territory. Edirne, former capital of the Ottoman Sultans, is full of old Ottoman and Islamic monuments. Among them, the world famous Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent. Overnight in 4* hotel.
DAY 7: EDIRNE - ISTANBUL
Morning drive to Istanbul. Arrival in this eternal city in the afternoon. Rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 8: ISTANBUL
Istanbul city tour. We’ll drive through the old city, pass the Golden Horn and end up at the ancient Hippodrome, at the historical center of Istanbul. We will visit the magnificent Santa Sophia church, which was transformed into a mosque and today operates as a museum. Continue to the Byzantine cistern with hundreds of columns taken from older pagan temples. We will enter one of the most beautiful mosques in the world, the famous Blue Mosque and we’ll finish our tour at the mysterious Top Kapi Palace, today a museum, to see the treasures of the Sultans and the intrigueous harem. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 9: ISTANBUL
Today we’ll have the chance to participate in a mini cruise along the shores of the Bosphorus, to see the splendid 19th century mansions of the European merchants and diplomats and the rich Ottomans. We’ll stop along the way to overpass the Bosphorus by the huge Bosphorus bridge. Rest of the day will be free at leisure, to stroll in the streets of this eternal city, shop in the Grand Bazaar or enjoy a cup of original turkish coffee in one of the traditional cafes of the old city. Overnight in 5* hotel.
Day 10: DEPARTURE
