Public Library of Kavala

The Public Library of Kavala is the Cultural Centre of the community. It acts as venue entertainment, professional help, and of course encyclopedic knowledge. It provides educational, social and cultural services to the residents of Kavala.
The library was started in 1956 with the generous offer by Mr. F. Papachristidi, the Ministry of Education, the National Library of the Society for Macedonian Studies, Intellectual Cooperation Agency, the US Information Centre, the Company CARE, Patriarchate of Alexandria, as well as many other donors, especially citizens.
Aims and objectives
-The provision of books for the study
-The creation of educational and cultural development in general in the region of Kavala Municipality.
-The promotion of learning, education and information for all of the citizens of the Municipality of Kavala.
-The provision of any assistance and information to students, youth and all citizens of the Municipality of Kavala on all current information on technology, science, politics, culture, philosophy and literary issues.
- issuing books and reading material of local interest and produced by local writers or non-writers.
-The staging of events independently or in collaboration with other cultural institutions, or organisations of a political or cultural nature
-The Serve all citizens according to their spiritual pursuits, needs and concerns.
The Library now has our 75,000 volumes of books, 67 journal titles and 19 titles of local newspapers.
More specifically, the collection includes:
- Books that cover the entire spectrum of knowledge
- Printed material (encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, guides, calendars, etc.)
- Local collection Kavala forms,e.g., books by author Kavaliotisi book that refer to Kavala
- Multimedia (e.g., video- tapes of National Geographic)
- Collection of children's and teen books (fairy tales, illustrated stories, novels, etc.)
- Accessories for courses on Technology
- Local newspapers from 1926 to today
- Magazines.

Children's library: 14.00-20.00. Christmas and Easter: 8.30-14.30. Otherwise morning: Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday 8.30-14.30 pm and Wednesday, 14000-20.00.
For adults, the library is open in the Winter, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday morning: 9.00-15.30 Wednesday: 13.00-20.00. In the Summer: Monday, June 30 to Friday, August 29 morning 9.00-15.30.
