Dadia Forest Natural Park

With an area of 42,800 hectares and located in the centre of the Evros region, the Park has been a protected area since 1980 because of its unique natural beauty. Of the 38 species of birds of prey found in Europe, 36 reside in the Park, including three of the four species of vulture: The black vulture , the griffon vulture and the white vulture.

Indeed, there are more than 200 species of bird and 60 to 65 species of mammals, many of which are rare. The dominat tree species is the pine, « Pinus sylvestris ». One also finds the smaller black pine, various deciduous species and rare wild apple trees.

In the National Park of Dadia-Lefkimis–Soufliou nature and human activities coexist harmoniously creating a unique and diverse landscape. Within the limits of Dadia and its sourroundings are settlements which have important archaeological finds and geological remains of significant value most of which can be visited, including :

and other equally interesting sites.
