Drama culture route 2 - ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM of DRAMA

THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF DRAMA chronologically covers the human presence in the District of Drama from the Middle Paleolithic Period (50.000 years ago) up to Modern Times (1913). Despite being a small museum, it exhibits valuable artifacts in a very comprehensible manner. The exhibition space consists of three halls. The first displays discoveries of the Prehistoric, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman Periods. The second contains artifacts of the Early Christian, Byzantine and Post Byzantine Periods. Finally, the third hall (in the glass-roofed atrium) shelters sculptures, various inscriptions, tomb stones and artifacts related to the worship of Dionysus, other Hellenic and Roman gods and local deities.
