OTHER SITES, OFF THE CULTURAL ROUTE

THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF HAGIA TRIADA is on the North edge of town. It took its name from the church with the same name and during the Ottoman Period it was inhabited by the Muslim population. Back then, the building used to be a mosque and was called “Kurşun cami”. It comprises a nave and a portico with four pillars and three arches. On the Southwest side, there is the polygonal foundation of the former minaret. Today, this neighborhood has preserved quite a few detached houses built in the traditional Macedonian architectural style and on the same street plan, just as those in the area of the Hagia Varvara Springs.
