37th part of Drama cultural routes - THE STATUE OF THE “VICTORY OF DRAMA”
THE “VICTORY OF DRAMA” statue is located in the vicinity of the Kalifitos torrent, opposite our town’s City Hall. It was created in 2013, within the framework of the celebration of the centenary of the Liberation of Drama, by the internationally renowned local sculptor Pavlos Kougioumtzis. This 3,80 meter tall bronze statue represents VICTORY crowning with laurel leaves Greek freedom fighters. The statue stands on a marble pedestal four meters high, the four sides of which are decorated with embossed bronze figures of warriors of ancient Macedonia, the Greek Revolution of 1821, the Macedonian Struggle and our nation’s fight against Nazism (in the 1940s).
