The Archaeological Site of Mesimvrias is a very remarkable archaeological site in Evros prefecture. Its double name comes from the fact that when the excavations began the location was widely known as Mesimvria. Recent excavation data, however, lead to the conclusion that it is Zoni. Zoni is also mentioned as colony of Samothrace.
The excavations begun in 1966 and continues up to now. The wall has already been exposed and is strengthened with a range of towers. Inside the wall there are house complexes.
