Komotini

Komotini – an exciting city, multicultural and seductive, with diverse historical, cultural and religious encounters of different people. It is a beautiful and mythical town and coupled with this diversity is its proximity to the Balkans and the Black Sea countries, which enchants visitors. It is a magical crossroads where past coexist uniquely with the present.

Komotini is the capital of Thrace and this gives the centre of the town an extra added value. Indeed, due to its central geographical position and being an administrative centre, coupled to its history and culture the town is as a result embellished with important monuments and landmarks. Important too is the presence of the University, founded in 1974, plays a special role in shaping the economic and intellectual life of the region.

Komotini’s diffuse traditional elements, its particular urban environment, the natural beauty of its surroundings, make it  an ideal destination for all seasons. Places worth visiting include:

• The mansions of the town’s notables.

• The Clock Tower.

• The Archaeological Museum.

• the Folklore Museum.
